This is a commissioned art installation piece for the C-Street Jam. This takes place June 26th on Commercial street.

We are a group of local artists, creative and radical thinkers and doers, who have joined together to make a city entirely out of discarded materials.

The purpose is tri-fold…One, to make art on a collaborative and community level. Two, to be interactive and stimulate ideas, dialogue and imagination. Three, to educate and inform the public of the environmental issues we face, while encouraging individual, local and global acts

Trash City is inspired by a future without the environmental luxuries we have today. A DIY culture, a radical revolution where citizens are forced to subsist off the accumulated trash and waste of their predecessors. This village, although bleak in theory, is a testament to the human will and creative spirit. It is a community where self-expression and self-reliance is celebrated. It’s an interpretation of a rising up out of the “ashes” and making something kick-ass with them.

Kevin, Dan and Steve keep the momentum going in an entertaining and insightful interview with live-instrumental-looping duo The Floozies.  Just a night before their show at Springfield’s own Lindberg’s bar, Mark and Matt Hill share stories from the road and details on just what goes down at a Floozies party.

The practice seems to be paying off.  Our hosts find themselves more and more comfortable with each show, and this episode is full of lively banter regarding upcoming LemonDrop events such as Emancipator and X-Stellations.  Not to mention a phone call from Courtney, some awkward trainees, and plenty of sweet, sweet tunes.

An enthusiastic surprise phone call from Mo-State Fabio starts the show off with a few laughs that grow continuously throughout the hour, and of course there’s plenty of local and live music to fill the gaps.  In the second half, Dan miraculously hooks up a sweet telephone interview with the guys from Future Rock.  If you don’t know what they’re all about, now is the time to find out.

You may have noticed some of the pages are, well, lacking. Over the coming weeks we’ll be rounding out the site’s content. In the meantime, please click on everything you can to familiarize yourself with our organization. Looking to commission some art or hire creative talent? Get in touch with talented artists interested in sharing their services.

2. Hours of Sights* and Sounds

Soon you’ll be gallivanting about in our digital gallery, getting to know Springfield’s creative body of works. In addition to each piece itself, you’ll find all its vital information along with any related events, stories, or other artworks. We’ll also break down projects into their creative parts. For example, for each music album we’ll showcase the illustrator of the album art, the graphic designer who created the poster, and, of course, the band who recorded the music. Every and every creative component is given the attention it deserves.

3. Electronic Commerce

We’ll have all kinds of things to give you in exchange for your monies. Buy prints, download songs, order shirts, and peruse lots of stuff created just for the store! Tip the artists and LemonDrop while you’re at it.

And if you’re low on funds, skeptical of this internet-shopping thing, or just a cheapskate, we’ll still provide you with enjoyable content at whatever price you think is fair.

4. Social Feeds by the Score

We’ll quench your 21st-century thirst for information with musing blogs, friendly exchanges, and worth-your-attention links. All accompanied by both aimed and aimless conversations.

And don’t worry about having to register for yet another website — connect with your Facebook account and extend your social network to your real-world, local community.

5. See Art Around Town

The website will also feature a map of local coffee shops, eateries, and other businesses that proudly display local art on their walls. We’ll also maintain a list of music venues and theaters.
